The LEGO Group and Aardman's Next Chapter - Inspired by Young Builders' Stop-Motion Creativity
The LEGO Group and Aardman, have launched the next chapter of their partnership with a short film called ‘Boop’ featuring young builders’ stop-motion creations.
Last year, kids were challenged to use LEGO® bricks and the LEGO Play app’s stop-motion studio to film their own ending to the story of Boop – the story of a lovable alien. Now, after months of development, the joint production premieres today.
Inspired by the young builders, the final short film showcases kids’ stop-motion creations and brings to life Boop’s journey through a world of LEGO bricks to find a way back to their clay-based home planet with plenty of mischief, creativity and friendship along the way.
The animated short film can be watched by young and old alike here: https://kids.lego.com/en-gb/boop

Anna Rafferty, SVP of Digital Consumer Engagement at the LEGO Group, said: “To see the results of the collaboration between LEGO Insiders Club, Aardman and young builders is inspirational. This work puts storytelling and the joy of creation front and centre and embodies our commitment to inspiring the creators of tomorrow.”
Sarah Cox, Chief Creative Director of Aardman, said: “The response to the LEGO Play App stop-motion studio series and our lovable alien Boop has been phenomenal and inspirational, we’ve seen lots of passionate engagement from young LEGO fans - and (hopefully!) future animators - whose ideas helped shape and influence the final film.”

As well as the 5-minute animated short film, LEGO Insiders Club and Aardman have produced a wealth of interactive content including a special behind-the-scenes documentary, build challenges, animation tips and quizzes.
Inspired by the positive message of collaboration from the project, the LEGO Group is kicking off various outreach programmes in the UK including:
Young V&A Social Impact Programme: Boop will be included as part of the LEGO Group’s ongoing social impact work with Young V&A, connecting with local kids from Tower Hamlets schools to attend the Inside Aardman: Wallace & Gromit and Friends exhibition, followed by an exclusive screening of the ‘Boop’ short film and a LEGO brick stop-motion workshop.
In a nod to the upcoming LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set, eagle-eyed fans may spot a poster of the iconic duo in brick form during the ‘Boop’ short film as a special Easter egg. For more information on the set, please visit: ideas.LEGO.com
